Introduction: From Bride’s first thought to Groom’s first look
Many brides find that the process of buying their wedding dress is both exciting and a bit scary at the same time. There are a number of steps in the process and you may find the whole experience a lot more easy, quick and enjoyable and may avoid some of the common pitfalls if you are aware of all the steps before you start. So we’ve outlined in the following sections all the main steps in buying a wedding dress, from the bride’s first thought to the groom’s first look!
Overall, most brides take around 6 – 12 months from starting to search for their wedding dress through to taking home the final fully fitted dress. However, brides can choose to go significantly faster or slower than this pace, as the timing of most of the steps is up to the bride.
The main step which is usually outside the bride’s control is the time between placing the order for the dress and when the wedding dress shop receives the dress from the manufacturer. Although rush orders may sometimes be possible, the usual time from order to delivery is around 4 – 6 months, so please take this delivery time into account when planning the search for your dress!
